Massachusetts Dance Festival believes that dance, as a major component of arts and culture, is essential to meaningful lives and healthy communities.  Dance and arts education contribute to quality life in the 21st Century by providing rich education for youth and promoting cultural understanding and tolerance, within diverse communities.

Through annual, statewide education workshops and performance platforms, MDF will employ dance performers, students, teachers, technicians, production workers, marketing professionals, and cultural facilities employees.  Each event will attract residents, college students and tourists, contributing to access, education and diversity of the arts, while stimulating employment.

Praise For The Massachusetts Dance Festival

From Karen Krolak, Monkeyhouse

Monkeyhouse wanted to thank all of the organizers and volunteers who made the Massachusetts Dance Festival such a glorious event. We loved performing at Boston Ballet and The Center for the Arts at UMASS and we treasured the way it brought so many different facets of the dance community together. Backstage we brainstormed with Lorraine Chapman, Andy Taylor-Blenis, Diane Arvanites and Tommy Neblett. It was wonderful to have an excuse to swap ideas about how to develop future projects and to encourage each other to take bold steps.

We also want to thank the parents and teachers of the students who attended the classes. Each weekend the kids were so impressive. They embraced new ideas easily and they made tremendous progress in just 50 minutes. Knowing that some families drove up from Connecticut, we truly appreciate how much these parents sacrifice to encourage young dancers.

Thank you for the countless hours of administrative work and years of preparation required to launch such an ambitious event. You deserve a thundering ovation.
